I am back in Illinois, trying to take this morning to write a little bit of an article for you.  It is hot and muggy here in Illinois just like it was back when I grew up, only now we have air conditioning.  Helped to cut down a half dead Red Bud tree in the back yard at my in-laws place.  Got in one round of golf, and these flat courses with flat greens and with closely cropped grass, even in the roughs, make play easier, although my drives don’t go as far.  Neva is getting to visit her family, even as I got together with my brothers for an evening.  We will enjoy a weekend together in October when Rick’s eldest son gets married.
Plans are being made for VBS.  We will be doing this on our own this year.  From Tuesday, July 6 through Friday, July 9th we hope to have a good VBS for our children.
In the midst of July and August, we all need to be reminded that the congregational expenses do not take a vacation.  We need each and every one of us to make sure our congregational finances are in good shape all year long.  In addition, we need each of us to dig a little deeper and give our congregational finances a booster shot.
