View Session Jottings

The governing body in a Presbyterian Church is called the Session.  The Session is a representative body made up of Elders elected by the congregation.  These folks make the decisions that govern the life of the community.  The Session of the Aztec Presbyterian Church is made up of nine adult members with an opening for a young person to be the tenth member.  The Session then becomes the shell around which committees are put in place.  Each Session member with the exception of the Clerk of the Session and the Youth Elder staff the committees of the Session:  Building and Grounds, Christian Education, Fellowship, Membership & Outreach, Mission, Personnel, Stewardship & Finance, and Worship.  Each of these committees initiate and maintain the program of the congregation.

Building and Grounds Committee – moderator, Dennis Ray – This committee is charged with the responsibility of maintaining and repairs the physical facility and setting standards for use of the facility.

Christian Education Committee – moderator, Lee-anne Lord – This committee is charged with the responsibility of providing venues for learning about and living out the faith for children, youth, and adults.

Fellowship Committee – moderator, Sandi Martin – This committee is charged with the responsibility of providing the congregation with opportunities to enjoying being together.

Membership & Outreach Committee – moderator, Peter Doerfert – This committee is charged with the responsibility of tracking our membership roll and finding ways of attracting present community and new community members to the life of this congregation by way of their commitment to serve God and Jesus Christ.

Mission Committee – moderator, Julie Aeschlimann – This committee is charged with the responsibility of finding needs within the community and initiating action on the part of our faith community to serve the larger community.

Personnel Committee – moderator, Beth Rabourne – This committee is charged with the responsibility of supervising, hiring, and suggesting pay levels for the paid staff of the congregation.

Stewardship & Finance Committee – moderator, Randy Oltmanns – This committee is charged with the responsibility of raising the money to fund the program of the congregation and supervising the banking and expenditure of that money.

Worship Committee – moderator, Alexandra Bassett – This committee is charged with the responsibility of supervising worship and the sacraments for the congregation.
